OUTDOOR

I’m Robin Issartel, a French outdoor photographer and film director based in Annecy, in the French Alps.

My work explores the intersection between endurance, environment and visual storytelling, producing content across demanding natural environments worldwide.

From alpine terrains to remote deserts and underwater locations, I document human commitment through photography and film, collaborating with brands, agencies and athletes on field productions and documentary projects.

Concept to Reality

story builder

My work often begins with an idea, sometimes abstract, sometimes intuitive, shaped through environment, movement and human engagement.

Originally trained as an architect, I developed a strong ability to translate abstract thinking into tangible forms. This foundation now informs the way I approach visual storytelling, shaping narratives into grounded visual productions.

I build stories through both conceptual thinking and field execution, connecting concept, terrain and human presence into cohesive imagery.

This process allows ideas to evolve organically from concept to reality, where narrative intention meets lived environments.

Visual Production

image maker

I operate across photography, film and aerial capture, adapting imaging approaches to each project’s narrative and production scale.

My work spans brand campaigns, documentary productions and athlete storytelling, collaborating with brands, agencies and athletes across diverse field environments.

Each production is developed to balance visual precision, terrain constraints and narrative intent.

I operate within field productions, working in environments where mobility, autonomy and logistical adaptability are essential.

My work extends across alpine terrains, aerial environments and underwater productions, requiring constant adjustment to evolving conditions, including operating aerial capture systems in remote locations.

Remaining embedded alongside teams and athletes, I develop imagery shaped by terrain, weather and real-world production constraints.

Endurance Commitment

sustained presence

My work is deeply rooted in ultra endurance environments, requiring the ability to remain present alongside athletes and teams over extended periods of time.

With a background shaped by multi-sport practice, I operate in demanding conditions where physical engagement, terrain exposure and duration directly impact production outcomes.

This sustained presence allows me to capture imagery from within the effort, documenting performance, fatigue and human commitment as they unfold in real time.

HIKE AND FLY SPECIALIST

alpine aerial endurance

A significant part of my field expertise is rooted in hike and fly, also known as alpine hike and flight, operating across demanding mountain terrains where endurance, aerial mobility and visual reactivity converge.

This specialization led me to collaborate as a Red Bull photographer, covering major productions within the adventure sports sphere.

I notably documented the Red Bull X-Alps, one of the world’s most demanding adventure races, during the 2021 and 2023 editions, working in conditions requiring full terrain autonomy and long-duration field presence.
